Pressure and gas availability from the Irish Sea well is decreasing.
As such, Connah’s Quay Power Station had a need to measure the remaining gas resource more accurately including volumetric flow and be able to analyse the content of the gas.
This project came with a number of very specific objectives:
DPS Group were tasked with installing a system to measure the gas coming from the Irish Sea well and onwards to the power station.
Connah’s Quay Power Station (main site) is a 1420MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) station with four generating units, complete with a Gas Treatment Plant (Site) and Above Ground Installation. Currently, the GTP has two separate metering systems.
We installed systems to measure Feed gas and Sales gas. Both of these systems are monitored 24/7 and are connected to a standalone metering computer. They have the capability to integrate into the existing main site DCS system.
